Hunt on London Bees and new additions

Head coach Joe Hunt can sense the anticipation from everyone associated with Villa Ladies as they gear up for Sunday’s visit of London Bees.

The Coles Lane encounter is the claret and blues’ first fixture for five weeks following the mid-season break.

The hosts will be looking to avenge defeat at Yevoil last time out in the 2pm kick off.

And Hunt says they’ve been working hard on the training field ahead of what will be ‘another difficult test’.

He said: “This game has been a long time coming.

“Nobody in our camp has enjoyed not playing, the season has been too stop-start for our liking.

“It will be nice to get some games going again, not just for players and staff but for the supporters too.

“During the break the ladies have worked very hard with the staff, trying to improve in certain areas.

“They have been very focused on what we want and are ready to go on Sunday.

“The Bees game is another difficult test for us.

“They have had a very good start to the season, they have recruited well and look extremely well organised.

“We will need to be at our very best to get anything.”

The Villa Ladies head coach also gave a positive squad update ahead of Sunday’s Sutton Coldfield match and is pleased with what’s been achieved on and off the field.

He added: “We've strengthened the squad in the break, adding some real quality.

“Alys Hinchcliffe has been added to the squad, she will help with our attacking play.

“We haven't scored as many goals as we should so now we have proper competition for places - no excuses.

“We need to score more.

“At the other end we have taken Grace Moloney on loan from Reading to add to our goalkeeping unit.

“Grace is a proven performer in Super League Two and had a fantastic start to the season in Super League One.

“We need to be better defensively as well and Grace will make the competition for places very interesting with Chloe Beattie and Jess Myers.”

Entry is £5 [adults] and £1 [U16 and O65].
