Hanssen: We Need To Be Better
Nadine Hanssen gave her thoughts after Aston Villa Ladies slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Charlton Athletic on Wednesday.
Nadine Hanssen felt Aston Villa Ladies were masters of their own downfall in a 2-0 defeat against Charlton Athletic on Wednesday night.
A first half brace from Gemma Bryan secured all three points for the hosts, who were playing their first game in the FA Women’s Championship after moving up a division.
Dutch midfielder Hanssen felt her side let the Addicks off the hook with some lapses in concentration as they came home empty handed.
She said: “I think we were in control of the game, but two sloppy moments cost us. In the first half, we were a little bit too comfortable and that’s why they scored twice.
“We have to be more focused and not let that happen again.”
The number 23 has started every game so far this season since joining from KRC Genk in the summer.
And Hanssen believes the squad need to retain their confidence after a tricky start to the season.
She said: “The game went quite well, for me. I nicked the ball a few times and allowed the midfield to pick it up and set up attacks.
“We need to stay confident. We have a good group of players but we just need to believe in ourselves.”
