Match Preview: Villa vs Durham

Aston Villa Ladies are back in action against Durham Women at The Lamb Ground in Tamworth on Mother's Day

Durham Women arrive at The Lamb Ground on Sunday for the first part of a Women’s Super League Two double header with Aston Villa Ladies.

The teams have already met once this season – a 3-2 win for Villa in the Continental Cup – and they will now play each other in consecutive weeks.

Villa host this weekend’s fixture against Durham before they make the trip to New Ferens Park in the following week.

The visitors come into the match on the back of a 3-2 win over Sheffield FC in the league last time out, with Beth Hepple, Nicki Gears and Emily Roberts grabbing the goals.

Durham are also WSL 2’s only remaining representative in the FA Cup after they booked a quarter final tie with Everton thanks to a 5-2 thrashing of Leicester City WFC.

However, when Durham came up against Villa earlier in the season, goals from Natasha Baptiste, Ebony Salmon and Elizabeta Ejupi saw them lose 3-2 at The Lamb.

As for Villa Ladies, the team come into the game on the back of a 4-0 defeat to league leaders Doncaster Rovers Belles.

A close game saw Villa spurn chances to draw level at 1-0 down before the table toppers ran away with the game late on.

Tickets for the match in Tamworth cost £5 for adults and £1 for under-16s and over 65s. Aston Villa season ticket holders get in free.

You can also get hold of a special Mother's Day edition of the matchday programme for just £1.50.
