Stevens named head coach

New-look coaching team.

Aston Villa Ladies are delighted to confirm Dave Stevens’ appointment as head coach.

Stevens will be assisted by a new-look coaching team of Iain Sankey (first team coach) and Corrine Mitchell (first team coach/development coach). 

Ron Mellor will act as technical director for the club’s renowned Regional Talent Club. 

An ‘A’ licence coach who was previously the technical director for the Aston Villa Girls C.O.E, Stevens brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the club.

An FA coach educator, who has worked in a part-time capacity for the FA for 17 years, Stevens boasts an excellent track record of working with elite players within an academy and centre of excellence environment.

Sankey, meanwhile, is also an ‘A’ licence coach and works full-time for the PFA as a Coach Educator.

He is currently undertaking his Pro-Licence.

Formerly a professional footballer with Ipswich Town and England schoolboys, Sankey has previously coached in a number of professional football academies.

Mitchell is part of the furniture at Villa Ladies.

She holds a ‘B’ Licence and is a full-time employee of Aston Villa.

Currently an FA Coach Educator and mentor, Mitchell coached at the Girls Regional Talent Centre for 12 years and represented the club in the youth set-up and ladies teams.

A highly motivated and well-respected coach within the club who has a track record for developing elite player potential.
